Fees + Referrals
Fees.
The fee for a 50 min Psychology appointment is currently $265 (As of July 2025).
As we are a private billing practice, the full payment is payable on the day of your appointment. You will then be sent a receipt which you can submit to medicare to claim a rebate if applicable.
Currently, the medicare rebate for a 50 minute Clinical Psychology session is 141.85.
*The current recommended rate suggested by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) for a 50 minute Clinical Psychology session is $311, so to keep therapy affordable, my fee is well below this.
Referrals.
You do not need a referral from a Medical Practitioner to access Psychology Sessions.
However, if you would like to claim a rebate from Medicare you will need a current referral and a Mental Health Care Plan. You can obtain a referral from your General Practitioner or from a Psychiatrist.
If you have a current referral, you are entitled to a medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
Alternatively, you may be able to claim a rebate through your private health fund (depending on your level of cover), but you will need to confirm this with them.
The full fee is to be paid on the day of your appointment and the medicare rebate will also be processed on the day of your appointment. Payment can be made via eftpos, credit card or direct debit.
Steps to getting a GP referral:
You will generally need to book in a mental health appointment with your GP and request a mental health treatment plan and referral to a Psychologist.
Your GP will then complete a brief assessment, and complete your mental health care plan.
GP will then provide a referral letter for you. Please ensure that this is signed by your GP.
Your GP can email this to me directly or give you a paper copy and you can email it to me at least 48 hrs prior to your first appointment.
Cancellations.
If in the event you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please aim to do so 24-48 hours prior to your appointment. We know this is not always possible in genuine emergencies or sudden illness etc. More notice simply means that we can offer the appointment to another client.
If you do not attend your appointment (No show) or cancel without 24 hr notice, you may be required to pay a late cancellation fee ($100).
Emergencies.
We are unable to offer a crisis service or intervention. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, or experiencing a family or domestic violence situation you can contact lifeline (13 11 14), 1800Respect (1800 737 732), Beyond Blue, your GP, or visit your nearest emergency department.
