Welcome to Soulful Minds
I understand that having ADHD is much more than being distractible, hyperactive or struggling to focus.
Living with ADHD can be challenging, especially if you are a Woman, and can come with a mix of emotions.
If you have been diagnosed with ADHD, you are likely aware that it impacts every aspect of your life.
And i’m willing to bet that if I took a glimpse into your life right now it might look a little something like this:
Daily battles to keep up with domestic chores, the mental to-do-list (50 tabs open?!) and staying on top of life admin.
Flipping between staying focused at work, feeling bored and understimulated to hyperfocusing and losing track of time.
Feeling completing exhausted & overstimulated when you get home from having to mask your symptoms all day.
Regularly forgetting why you walked into a room, where you left your keys or forgetting to do something you said you would.
Difficulty getting places on time, procrastination, overthinking & organising your life.
All of these challenges might be starting to take a toll on your relationships with your friends, family or partner.
And that is just the tip of the iceberg.
Because ADHD rarely travels alone it is likely you may also be experiencing issues including stress, burnout, anxiety or depression as well.
You might have tried medication, and have found some relief, but the reality is that, for many people, it only goes so far in alleviating the symptoms.
The issue is that Medication doesn’t teach you about your unique brain and how ADHD affects it, nor does it give you the skills and tools to manage it.
If any of this resonates with you, it might be a sign that your ADHD could be better managed.
That is where Therapy + Coaching comes in.
I am guessing that if you are here, you have arrived at a point where you have had enough and need things to change.
There Is Hope On The Horizon
The good news is that even though ADHD is a lifelong condition that comes with some challenges, it is possible for you to live a fulfilling, joyful and productive life.
ADHD does not invent new problems; it exacerbates universal ones.
The goal of psychotherapy + coaching then, is to lessen the challenges, so that it has less of a negative impact on your life and functioning.
Imagine a life where your ADHD brain is understood and effectively managed, rather than a burden weighing you down.
Where you stop chasing your tail, and actually get ahead of the game.
Become more effective and productive in your life and work.
Are more organised, balanced and able to focus on what you need to, when you need to.
Have reduced the gap between your intentions and actions, so that you can ‘do what you know you need to do’.
Are more consistent, feeling more energised, and less depleted from masking all the time.
You might also come away from Therapy with improved self-worth, learn to be kinder to yourself & become more mindful and calm.
Who Am I?
Hi, I’m Catherine Eliot, a Clinical Psychologist & owner of Soulful Minds.
I have lots of experience helping people struggling with these things.
I have been a Psychologist for over 14 years and in that time have met and helped many people with ADHD (and the additional mental health challenges that can travel alongside it) to improve their functioning and their wellbeing.
ADHD has been an area of interest for me for sometime now and this interest has led me to do further training to understand more deeply how it impacts people, so that I can help them more effectively.
I also have experienced first hand the impact of ADHD personally in my own family.
I draw from a few modalities in my therapy including ACT, Mindfulness & Internal Family Systems and I adopt a strengths-based approach to how I work with Women.
I am also a certified Breathwork practitioner, so may bring this into our work together, if appropriate.
Therapy is always tailored to your unique situation, how ADHD manifests in your life and your goals for therapy.
But my approach is generally twofold; We focus on giving you some practical tools and strategies to improve the parts of ADHD that are causing problems, (e.g memory, time management and organisation, communication, interpersonal issues, emotional regulation).
We also address the emotional and psychological impact of ADHD and any other issues that you bring to therapy and want to work on.
